The Secret Of Prayer
Are things getting too overwhelming for you to handle alone? Finances, family relationships, work, and health situations all contribute to both happiness as well as stress. If you’ve come to a place where you realize in your heart that you, like everyone else, need help from a power greater than yourself, then you’ve come to the place where you need Jesus, the God who answers prayer. He is the secret to prayer.
You can pray at any time, any place, and any way knowing that God will hear you. But if you want to have the kind of peace that is beyond understanding, a certainty about the decisions you make or wisdom that surpasses anything that you’ve ever had before, you need to take one very simple but important step. You need to believe and ask Jesus to take control of your life and life situations. You need to give up control of your life. Allow Jesus to be your friend, confidante, provider and leader in your life. Allow Him to be Lord. No matter what you’ve done, if you humble yourself and turn to Him, He will forgive you. “If we confess our sins, He is faithful and just to forgive us our sins and to cleanse us from all unrighteousness.” (I John 1:9)
Here’s a simple prayer that will help establish that relationship with Jesus. You can say it with your eyes closed or with them open. You can say it out loud or whisper it in your heart. He will hear you either way. The key is to pray to Jesus honestly and humbly from your heart. “If you confess with your mouth that Jesus is Lord and believe in our heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved.” (Romans 10:9)
Open your heart to Him and say something like this:
Jesus, I need Your help.
I’ve been trying to do things on my own, and it’s not working out.
I now choose to believe in You and give my life over to You.
Please forgive me of my sins, come into my life and take it over.
I am Yours. Please guide me now and show me how to handle the
challenges in my life. Thank You for giving Your life for me. Thank You for forgiving me. Thank You for loving me just the way I am.
Thank You for taking over my life.
Amen.

You’ve just made the most important decision of your life. You might feel a little different in the next few days. You might see things a little different. If you do, don’t be afraid. It’s just the peace of God and the love of Jesus in your life.
All of your problems won’t go away because you’ve given your life to Jesus, but you will be better able to handle them because He is there to help you. As you experience more and more of His love, you will experience more and more of His blessings.
Keep on praying. Now you can pray knowing that Jesus hears you and will answer your prayers. Talk to Him about everything. He’s always there to listen and answer.
Get a Bible that’s easy for you to understand and start reading it. It is the wisest book in the universe, and it will make you wise. God will speak to you through it.
It’s also important for you to find a church. It will help you to learn about your new relationship with Jesus. It will be a place where others can help you understand how much He loves you, a place to go for prayer and support. 
Take a look at any of the participating churches listed on the E Pule Kakou website and check out one that’s in your neighborhood. Tell someone there about the decision you’ve made to follow Jesus. They will welcome you, help you and pray with you. And please tell the friend or family member who has probably been talking to you about Jesus for a while. They will be very happy.
